Women's Association IMage
October 2008 Event

"Enriching Our Friendships"
Conducted: October 14, 2008 @ 7:15 PM
Location: Assembly Room
Refreshments were served
Speaker:  Dr. Joy Carol, Speaker
Book: "The Fabric of Friendships" [available at Barnes & Noble]

No matter what age we are, when we have healthy friendships, we
feel supported and have confidence that our friends will be there
for us in joys and sorrows, successes and failures. But healthy
relationships require nurturing, effort, work, and time.

Joy Carol explored with us the difficulties that can occur in women’s
friendships that are brought on by insecurity, extreme sensitivity,
unhealthy envy, competition, unresolved anger and aggression,
inadequate boundaries, or poor communications. We learned how to cultivate qualities and skills that can help us have more loving and lasting friendships, how to listen attentively, face issues openly and honestly, establish appropriate boundaries, forgive, be truthful with kindness, and have a sense of humor.

If I were to name something special that I’d want to give every woman on earth, it would be the gift of healthy friendships with women.      –Joy Carol, The Fabric of Friendship
